About the Writer
Paolo Griffin is a Toronto-based composer, teacher, and music critic.
As a composer, Paolo’s works have been performed in Canada and Europe, and he has held composer-in-residence posts at the Arteles Artistic Centre in Finland and in Quebec. He has studied violin with Etsuko Kimura, and his past composition teachers have included Gary Kulesha, Norbert Palej, Alexander Rapoport, and James Rolfe.
He believes that one of the most important things a composer can do is learn to talk and write about new music, especially their own. By acting as a critic, he is fulfilling this belief and at the same time, informing the public about the multitude of concerts happening in Toronto every season.
